Thanks for the info on the ancestor concerned. I've just looked at the download. It cost £3.50 to discover that he had a Victory Medal didn't every serviceman? Pleased to have found out a little more though. louise

The National archives Hold the medal cards. Is this the man you are related to? If so he was awarded a medal during WW1. Medal card of Harvey, John Corps: South Lancashire Regiment Regiment No: 32514 Rank: Private 1914-1920 WO 372/9 The National archives hold the surviving army documents from 1914 to 1920 so you may find something there. From the CWGC. HARVEY, J Rifleman 32514 20/09/1920 38 South Lancashire Regiment United Kingdom 465 'C.'. AUDLEM CEMETERY (Cheshire, United Kingdom) Death certificate reference. HARVEY, John 38. Kington 6a 502.

My relative e-mailed me the details of the serviceman they were probably from the Commonwealth War Dead site, a guess because she didn't say and there is a grave site and grave reference number. Louise

To save a lot of maybe unnecessary typing (with two fingers lol) could you say where the info was discovered? Sarah

A relative of mine has just discovered details for our mutual ancestor's death whilst a member of the1st/5th Battalion of the South Lancashire Regiment. He died on 20/09/1920 service number 32514 and was a 38 year old rifleman. Where should we look for details of his death and possibly service record? We've had no deaths due to conflict up to now so all help would be appreciated. thanks louise
