Hi Sarah, Sorry I didn't see your reply until afterwards. Your explanation does seem to be the answer. Thanks Helen |

Hi Shiela, What I don't understand though is why is the reference number the same? |

I've just looked at FreeBMD rather than the Staffs site and see what you mean about two with the same details. Most likely explanation is that the mothers or fathers of the two children were friends/relations and visited the registrars office together, and so ended up with their babies registered with the same page number. There are ten children registered with those same details - the total number that can fit on one page. It's a good job you know which one you need, as it wasn't very imaginative to both give their children the same first name! Sarah |

it could well be that the Nutt cousins BOTH had sons and BOTH called them the same name - confusing I know - but it does happen a lot - hope this helps |

Arthur Nutt born 1903. I have found him on the Staffs BMD site but there are two? They both have the same ref number so I assumed twins. However, they are both called Arthur? I then thought maybe a duplicate entry but here's where the confusion starts. The first Arthur Nutt says son of John & Sophia The second Arthur Nutt says son of John Willam & Emma. Any ideas anyone please? By the way, the Arthur in my tree is son of John William and Emma. Many Thanks Helen |
