This webpage may help: http://rwguide.rootsweb(.)com/lesson24_text.html#French (Remove brackets and scroll down the France). Unless he had anglicised his name when he came here, he doesn't sound very French. Maybe his parents were from the UK? Does his marriage cert give any clues? Sarah

I have a David John Forster born 1844c Keiss Paris France . He was married in England and I have found him in 1871/81/91 census. Do I have to contact France for his birth certificate? or is there an easier way. I have found a site to do this but i think it will be costly and the fact I am not a blood relative might hamper my chances.
