Update. Anyone wanting information on Hesslewood Orphanage for 1920 to 1938 approx. Hull Local History Library has copies of the Annual Reports which give information about finance, activities and a list of the children in the home with the reason for them being there. Regards Jackie |

Hi Jaqueline I have nudged up the barnardos thread for you. Do you know where the home was? I asked much the same question a while ago..........I put the town in the subject + someone contacted me with a whole list of them + where/who to contact! Might be a good idea to put place name in your title. Ann x PS: type childrens homes in the tips board search box(just above the threads) + you may find something relevant there. |

Where would I look to find out about a child who was placed in a children's home? A deceased relative of mine was placed in a children's home because her mother was ill and her father was at sea. I want to know the dates she lived in the home. The children's home has now closed so I don't know where to start. Any ideas? Regards, Jackie. |
