Any idea how much information is stored on the archives (1980 ish). I am going to try and track down a specific date, but when you go to the archives for local papers - is the whole paper archived, or just the main stories?? I know it will depend on the paper etc! I am presuming it may turn out to be a fairly big story. ta Liz

Don't know if you mean national or local newspapers. I live in Teesside and our local newspapers are kept on microfilm at the library, and are the complete newspapers. Kath. x

All archives should preserve documents as they are, so a newspaper should be kept in its entirety. It's also much easier to microfilm a whole paper in one go, than select specific stories. All parts of a paper are historically of interest, including the adverts. nell
