My gt gt grandparents are on the 1881 and 1901 but nowhere else! James born 1855 in berks and Mary( nee Kimber) Wernham lived in Wantage with two daughters Emma and Mary in 1881. They moved to Eastbourne about 1891 but do not showup until 1901 along with more children and a grandaughter. I also think that there must have been at least one other child born in the gap between Gertrude1882 and Alice 1887 or else the grandchild was born to an unmarried Gertrude.Emma 1878(gt gran) had a daughter Lily but later. James wernham is also missing from 1861 and 1871. Any tips or advice please ,many thanks Jill

Wernham must be ripe for mistrancription, How sure are you of where they were in 1891? How do you know? Give me a mo, and if no-one else comes up with them i'll have a look Jess

Hi Jess, daughter Edith born 1891 in Eastbourne. I have looked at about evey Wernham on the other years,can not even find gt gran Emma on 1891(prehaps in service) or in 1901 when married to Charles Clark. JamesWernham poss on 1871 with wrong age in the workhouse but have ordered marriage cert of James and Mary to help find his fathers name. Regards Jill

This tip may help you, not sure how many you've ever looked for, and you may have tried this. In 1891 i simply used less info. I picked out Gertrude's name and just used the criteria Gertude born (whatever county it was) and living in Eastbourne! No years, no surname. Just looked at what popped up ...and there was a name very similar to the one you were looking for. Sometimes less is more..(in fact very often!) Jess
