Hi, can someone advise me please? I want to apply for some birth & marriage Certificates from the GRO Lombard St. in Ireland, only I am unsure of how to pay. I have looked at the payment method (see below) but me being a bit thick I do not understand it. I hope to pay by personal cheque, so do I use my normal chequebook? Also how would I write this out; do I write say 6.98 Euro or what? Help! 'Payment Methods: We will accept personal cheques/bank drafts, International Money Orders and Irish Postal Orders denominated in € Euro. N.B. Euro denominated personal cheques, bank drafts or International Money Orders must be drawn on a branch of a bank located in the Republic of Ireland and be acceptable for clearance through the Irish cheque clearing system.' I have only dealt with N.Ireland who still use sterling, but my advice would be to get a Euro Postal Order from the post office made out for the amount you need. Tricia

Margaret you should never write your UK issued cheques out with a foreign currency. It confuses the bank and causs a multitude of headaches and they're likely to end up charging you for any extra work they have to do (like picking up a calculator and working out the exchange rate) I'd go to your post office and get an international money order (you may be able to get these at banks too) for the amount you need. were do I do a irish look up please for births

We ordered a birth cert from my grandfather in law a year ago. We printed an application form from the web saite and paid by Credit Card. It was easy and quite painless.
