Carol A large percentage of WW1 records were destroyed. The left-overs are referred to as the 'burnt records' and they are at Kew. For WW2 and later records, see http://www.army.mod.uk/contacts/divisions/records.htm for the address. I think current waiting time is about 6 months and it costs about £25-30. There is no guarantee that what they have will give you much information either and I think you have to prove you are next of kin or have next of kin's permission. nell |

I have just read the thread regarding World War 1 where someone mentioned you can send off for War records. Does anyone know what these documents contain and roughly the cost of buying the records. Also where do we get them from? many thanks, Carol |
