Hi If you go to the homepage there's some information about getting started. You need to start with what you know and work back, your birth certificate will give your dad's name and your mum's maiden name, then you find their marriage and the certificate will give their father's names etc, etc. When you get back before 1901 you can look on the census records. What dates and places do you have?? Heather

If you're back to 1875 perhaps you can find your family on the 1881 census, it's free!! www.familysearch.org The 1901 census site is free to search the index but pay to view the pages, google 1901 census and you'll find it. Hope that will get you started. Heather

On both the Tips Board and Record board people will do look-ups for you. If you want to do them yourself it is worth joining sites like Ancestry.co.uk. There is also the Free BMD site that list births marriages and deaths from 1837-1910 approx. If I can help mail me direct, although I am fairly new to this, but do have some subscriptions. Jo
