Am I right in thinking....

That if we contact a non-paying member that they will be able to access the message, but not be able to reply? Is there anyway of telling which members are subscribers and which are not? I have just typed and sent a nice long message to someone I've found on here, a long lost friend, then just thought to myself that I could have wasted my time. I should have just put something short & sweet first, just to see if they do actually reply. Many of us have made contact and had no response, so could one of the reasons be that they do not have the ability to reply? Thanks Sam

I didn't think they could get message, perhaps you can send me one on Sat as I will be a non member then. Irene

Don't know Sammy! But we could find out, by asking the numerous members who are leaving / have left GR. to let us know!! (Don't forget to get their email addresses though) Kim xx

According to GR's Help/FAQs: You do not have to be a full member of GenesReunited to reply to an email. Kate.

Thank you Kim, I'm going to message Irene. Thank you Kate, I thought it must say somewhere on here, I've just realised that I did include my email address on the message I just sent to my long lost friend, so as long as she can read it she can reply one way or the other sam

Thank you for that info Louise, there are lots of things on GR that need clarification...Good idea

I think the only difference between full members and 'free' members is that the non-paying ones can't post on the message boards (except 'trying to find') and they can't initiate contact with another member, although they can respond to messages. Sam x

Hi Sammy, The person should still get the message even though the membership has expired, the only problem would be if their e-mail adress had changed. Good Luck Sheila
