Where will i obtaine a marriage cert from for the year 1792. Will it be the normal olace Helen

You can't obtain one from 1792, Civil Registration started in 1837. Parish records are you best bet for this or visit the LDS website (familysearch.org) for the records. Hope this helps, don't hesitate to message me for further help or information Steve

just to let you know if catholic - the possiblity is it's written in Latin

Helen You are extremely unlikely to find a record of a Roman Catholic marriage in 1792 - the RC Church was not recognised and for a marriage to be legal it had to take place in a C of E. Only Quakers and Jews were allowed to perform non-C of E marriages. In addition, RC Churches rarely kept registers (for baptisms, blessings and burials) because it was illegal to do so, although a few, a very few, have been handed over to County Records Offices. Finally, don't worry if you come across records in Latin - you only need about a dozen words of Latin to decipher them. If you hit that particular obstacle then just shout on here - someone will help you out. Happy hunting Marjorie
