When did mother's maiden name appear on register

I cannot remember what year the mother's maiden name started to appear when looking up a birth. I am thinking 1910 but not sure - could someone please help. Thanks Trish

thanks Bernice. I have just purchased some 1837 credits and don't want to waste them by searching with no maiden name. Trish x

Patricia I have a birth certificate for 1851 and the mothers name is there including her maiden name. Happy hunting Judy Sorry,just realised your query was re look ups.
