Can anyone tell me if this is possible on the 1861. I have the marriage of my gg grandparents in 1863 and have their addresses from the cert, but cannot find either of them by name on the 1861 (they must have been somewhere!!!), so was wondering if anyone knows of a way I can check the address 2 years earlier on the census to see if by any chance they were already there. Any help gratefully received. Thanks Trudy |

You cna really only look by name on the ancestry version. if they were in a small village it may be possible to skip thru the village looking for them jess |

If you post the address, I'll have a look on 1837's 1861 census as that has an address search facility. |

Hi Trudy there are 117 households under Church St Hackney - various parishes and 69 for Mare Street, Does the parriage cetificate give a parish so I can narrow down the houses on the index? |

Could they have moved into London? One possibility i've found for the names you mention, is: Hannah Dabbs abt 1823 Wellington, Shropshire, England Wife Dudley Worcestershire John Dabbs abt 1822 Wellington, Shropshire, England Head Dudley Worcestershire (stone miner) Louisa Dabbs abt 1849 Dudley, Worcestershire, England Daughter Dudley Worcestershire Sarah Parbutt abt 1791 Wellington, Shropshire, England Visitor Dudley Sue (in NZ) |

Hi Sue Thanks - have seen this family group before, and at that time didn't think it was them - haven't got all of my file with me at the moment but there was a reason why it wasn't them, but thank you anyway. Trudy |
