I received an email a few days back referring to a surname I have in my tree - or did have. I informed this person that unfortunately the surname is no longer connected to my tree as it was a false lead, but I had kept certain information that could help others. I was asked if I could try and find certain relatives over a period between 1861 to 1901 which I did and was unsuccessful in finding them. I informed this person that I was sorry but could not find them and the reply I received was 'Well that's strange, I have other people searching for me and they have come up with the information I wanted and lots more'. I would just like to say that when doing searches for people, at some stage the eyes do silly tricks on us, and we tend to read things wrong along the way. So I deeply apologise if I missed the plot, but in future Miss 'I can't be bothered to do the dirty work' do your own digging, it's what genealogy is all about. By the way I help other because I enjoy it not to give false hope then drop them like a ton of bricks. Have a nice day. Linda

There is always one who spoils it for everyone else. Most of the people on this site are a great bunch and I know we all appreciate what help we get from others, infact I am amazed at times how kind people are. Forget this person, they are not worth a second of your time. Good Luck with your research. Irene

Hi Linda I totally agree with you it makes you wonder sometimes why we try and help. As they say there is always one bad apple in the Barrel. I help people because I enjoy helping, sometimes I can't,but all any of us can do is our best. Regards cheryl

How ungrateful!! The help we all receive from others on here has always amazed me. How can someone sit at a computer looking up all this information for other people...for gain, no because they are generous kind hearted people who know how hard this stuff all is and just want to help us on our way. As someone else said 1 rotten Apple thankfully doesn't spoil the whole barrel but it must make you b****y furious and rightly so. Thank you all for the help you give to others. Jacquie
