Thanks Ronald. Had a peek on there already, but doesn't have my area transcribed yet. Looks like I will have to wait. If they all appear around the same time, it might be easier to do searches - following through etc. from one to the next. Margaret

Believe the 1861 is hoping to be available by end of year on Scotlandspeople. However there are various sites Freecen being one where you can see snippets of earlier ones. If you can't wait have you tried the LDS to order films of the census for the area you're interested in so you can view them at the local FHC. Costs £2.20 + 50p postage for each film and you can view for up to a month on short term - its a bit more for a longer look. I'm going through the Edinburgh 1861 census at the minute but so far have had 3 films - its not as easy as scotlandspeople as there's no name index but you can come across other names you're interested in. Two other people have had a look at them which makes the loan worthwhile.

Julie, Have done the LDS route for a couple of them. The office that I use is closing at the end of June for the summer, so I am hoping my last order is in soon, giving me enough time to view it. I'm not in a great hurry - gives me time to get all my other info sorted so I know exactly what I am looking for - just wanted to know when they would be available for viewing. Margaret
