PENNY STAMPS ON CERT

i have several certs with penny stamps on them and would like to know 1, are they valuable...one dated 1874. 2, if i laminate them do i destroy the value. 3, how do i preserve them. thanks maryclare

My birth cert of March 1937 has a penny stamp on it of Edward the Eighth Altho he had abdicated they hadnt caught up with issue of new stamps for the new King George V1. I,m not going to do anything with it in case in destroys any value it has. Shirley

Hi Maryclare, like some of the others who have responded, I also collect UK stamps. To preserve them leave them as they are. Do not touch them in any way - if they are valuable then yuo will only reduce (destroy!) their value. As others have said they are probably worth a few pence rather than even £1. If you want more certainty then your best bet is to find your local stamp shop where they will be able to help you. Regards, William
