Scottish search of birth mother?

Help! Looking for birth mother. I have her 'nee' surname and marriage surname. She was born in Scotland but sometime between her birth and my birth, she moved to north of England. In terms of being married, I gather from my file, that she didn't want her separated husband to know where she was living. I don't know how to go about searching. I hope I have made these details clear enough, without adding specifics? Details I know - her name, place of birth, date of birth, a temporary address that she was living at in 1974 (tried electoral roll and no-one is registered throughout the 70's), the fact she has a brother (name not known), the full name of her separated husband, the fact that I have older siblings (names and dates not known). The names are fairly common Scottish or English surnames. Any ideas gratefully accepted. Liz

Just a quick nudge to see if anyone has any ideas... I am sure that I am missing a really obvious 'thing to do' but I am quite new at all of this? Liz

Hi Liz, I see you have been onto the scotsconnected site, have you had any word from Margaret Drummond yet? It depends on where the marriages and births took place if it was England and Wales you can find a lot of info on 1837, but if its in Scotland then I am note sure where to look for info. Speak with Margaret she is lovley and wil advise you, what to do next. I have the current electoral roll if you get any info, or need any look-ups then feel free to e-mail me. Good Luck with your search Sheila
