Chris 1851 was gonna be my next move - but with such a common name and no certainty where they were living I think its a huge task without an index. I have just checked births for Pancras and St Giles for 1846-1850 and there arent actually THAT many John Walkers so I may just order them to get an address cheers for your input - i'm spinning it round and round in my head and going loop-de-loo Z xx |

My 2x gt grandfather is John Walker he married Kate Cooley 25 Dec 1871 his age is given as 'full age' (therefore born before 25th Dec 1850) his occupation is carman his father is Thomas Walker, labourer her father is THomas Cooley bricklayers labourer (witnesses are Thomas Walker and Margaret Connor) in 1881 census he is aged 30, builders carman, born Somers Town 22 Torrington Mews, St Giles he dies before 1891 I have a possible family I found in teh 1871 butwhen I trace it back to 1861 it goes pear-shaped: n.b both addresses are in part of pancras classed as somerstown 1871 13 Drummond Crescent. St pancras Thomas Walker 1812 Herefordshire, England Head - bricklayers labourer John Walker 1848 St Pancras, Middlesex, England Son - carman 1861 30 Brill(?) Row, St pancras Thomas Walker 1816 Herefordshire, England Head - bootmaker Charles Walker 1847 Pancras, Middlesex, England Son John Walker 1848 Pancras, Middlesex, England Son the worrying factor is that bootmaking seems more of a trade than a labourer and I wondered would someone give that up to heft bricks about. |
