Margaret you could try contacting the Family History Room at the MItchell Library in Glasgow. they may be able to help or direct you to a department in the library that can. their records are vast and I'd be surprisedif they couldnt eventually give you an answer Zoe |

only us chickens .... You could try getting hold of a copy of Who's Who in the theatre (Pitman 1912 - 1977), also the Green Room Book (1906 - 1909) or you could try emailing the Theatre museum London http://www.backstage.ac.uk/ http://members.tripod.(com)/FootlightNotes/ |

I was recently told by my uncle that his grandmother was an actress in a troupe called the Marriann Players (unsure of the spelling, but he pronounced it marry-ann). Although she died in Bristol, I'm thinking that she acted in/around Glasgow area - he remembers going to visit her for regular Sunday dinners and he was brought up in the Glasgow area. Has anybody heard of them in their travels? He said he had a booklet that his grandfather wrote about the Players, but of course couldn't find it for me. Thinks maybe he got rid of it because his children weren't interested. GRR!!! I've been doing this family tree stuff for nearly 15 years - you'd think he would have thought of me before getting rid of stuff. Rant over. |
