Dont know if any one else has experienced this, but word of warning if you are struggling to find anything on the 1861 census on 1837 site and feel sure families should be around. The 1861 census is now on Ancestry, and this week I found some elusive rellies no problem great, Yet a few weeks before I was searching the census on 1837 but nothing came up as all my rellies are from London I assumed it was complete. I could not understand why 2 sites with the same census could not throw up the same information. Tonight I checked their address on 1837 and found my rellies but they were only showing their first names, the info was patchy, so I was never likely to find them, at that time I did not know the address either. So if like me you have been struggling on that site that may be why! the information is incomplete or missing. Linda

I'm struggling with both. I have about 50 Linkson's alive at the time of the 1861 but only find about 15 of them at most (including the married ones) 1837 has two Linkson's that dont actually exist (I SO wish 1861 on ancestry was searchable by address so I could find out who they actually are as I've never seen something mistranscribed TO Linkson)

I know how you feel Zoe! I can only find one branch of my TIVERS family. The others are nowhere to be found on 1861. I have my GG grandfather mistranscribed as SIVERS, but can't find any of the rest of the family. In other censuses they are variously listed as SIVERS, LIVERS and FIVERS! If anyone finds any of them, please send them home to me as they are all mine! LOL Sue xx

I've also found some on Ancestry that didn't appear on 1837. Think the best thing is to use both. You are always going to get bad transcriptions, some of the pages are dreadful. At least we now have the opportunity to have a choice.

Linda, I spent a fortune on 1837's 1861 census and didn't find the family I knew were living in Westminster!! I knew they were there cos GG Grandpa was a policeman based at Westminster from 1851!! They say they have London, but it is exremely patchy!! maggie

It's just taken me less than a minute to find someone for Barbara in Canada on the 1861 Lancs on ancestry. She's wasted almost a tenner on 1837online and they aren't there
