Particularly in rural areas christenings took place before the birth was registered. This was on the one hand to keep in with the local church or vicar and also because transport to the next town to register a birth was not always easily available or in the case of e.g. farm workers too time consuming. |

If the child was poorly when born, may have been baptised straight away, in case he'she died D |

Hi Christa, yes its from the IGI, I thought these records were set in stone? |

Is this from IGI? It's not always reliable. Otherwise, it's quite possible for a birth not to be registered imediately. If the birth was towards the end of one of the Mar, Jun, Sep, Dec quarters, it wouldn't be registered until the next quarter. This might make it look 3 month later. Crista |

Hi, I have a rellie who appears to have been christened around two months before the birth was registered. Is this likely? Its definately the same person and the name is very uncommon. I don't want anyone to find out anything for me, I just want to know the likelyhood. Thanks. |
