HELEN TRY LOOKING FOR THE NORTH STAFFS REGIMENTAL MUSEUM. MY GRANDFATHER WAS IN THE WILTSHIRE REGIMENT 1914 AND THEIR MUSUEM IN SALISBURY CALLED THE WARDROBE OBTAINED A COPY OF THE WILTS REG WAR DIARIES, WHICH IS A DAY TO DAY ACCOUNT OF EVENTS.mY GRANDFATHER WAS KILLED XMAS DAY 1915 AND EVEN THAT WAS RECORDED ALTHOUGH I DON'T BELIEVE THATS THE NORM. GOOD LUCK, SYLVIA |

Have a look at www*1914-1918*net. There seems to be quite a lot of info & I have had really good response to queries on their message boards - they seemed to be a friendly bunch, just like here. Hope you're lucky, Helen |

Helen, Try looking at regiments(.)org - you should find out more about what the regiment did. From this I was able to 'guess' what a couple of my lot were doing when they died. Regs Jane |

I have a great uncle who died I know 13/5/1918 from his wounds I have his private no. 28237 J Rawson North Staffs regiment, but I would like to find out more about where this regiment was, what they did, and where he died etc, There is a memorial for him in his parish church St Peters, Laneham, Nottinghamshire, but I would like to find out more about what he did so any suggestions please as I have never looked up anything to do with ww1 and army war things before. A lot of the sites like war graves commisions only have on them the details I already have and it a site that would have more details that I need to find, any help appreciated, Thanks |
