name changes help!!!!!!!!!!! northern ireland

still trying to trace my fathers side of the fam with no luck at all. all i know is my fathers name,well if only that easy, story has it he was born one surname and changed to another, anyway i tried to obtain his birth cert as i have the place and date in northern ireland, but without the mothers maiden name i cant get it,as i live in england i dont know where to go from here without travelling to n. ireland. anyone know what to do next???? any help would be grateful. thanx xxx |

my father was born in 1936 larne countydown,i have wrote to the reg office but they wont help, what do you suggest, this is a total nightmare,cind.xx |

i dont think his mother was married, there was some kind of scandal i think, i remember seeing his mother when i was little but dont recall any mention of the father. now that is spooky....as far as im aware i was the only daughter....but saying i thought he only ever married my the wife he had(not my mum, they never married) but on the cert for the mar it says previous marriage dissolved!!!!! talk about secrets!!!!!!! cind.xxx |

i have no idea when he changed his name, i think it could have been in the 60s. as far as i know he was born oconnel or something like that to baxter.there is no mention of a father on his marriage cert. cind.he was born in 1936. thats all i have to go on really.cheers cind.xx |
