Does anyone know of a good Irish family history investigator? I need someone familiar with County Laois formally County Queens. I know the people I am investigating come from the parish of Mountrath and were born in 1830 and 1835 respectively as I have seen the parish records for that parish. My needs now are to track down their parent’s marriage. The Parish records were the two people were born does not show any marriage details between the parents so I am surmising they were married in another parish but I would like to use a respectable family history investigator to do some leg work for me. Any one know of someone they can recommend

Hello Joy. I visited a local LDS research centre in Leeds. Most Mormon churches has a research centre at one of there churches were you can view parish registers that they have photographed. If you contact one near you they will let you know what records they have catalogued. I have to say some are not that easy to read and the film copies are not always very clear. Also let me say it has taken me 10 months of weekly visits to find just two people, so the search can be quite difficult. But give it ago, regards, Chris

Brilliant! I went to our nearest 6 years ago when we started this addiction. It's about half an hour away and with limited opening hours. The next nearest is about an hour away and open only in the mornings on a Saturday. Staff were helpful at both. Great-Granny was born in Dublin - that's lots of parish registers!! happy hunting! Joy

Thank Teresa for the information about Irishmidlandsancestry.com. I do know about this organisation and as I already knew some information I did not know how much more I would get for the £190+ search they do on one's behalf. Also the family left Ireland in 1845 and I was just wanting confirmation for the research I had already done. And for that I only need my Great Great Grandparents marriage date to prove I was not barking up the wrong tree as I have already spent 10 months tracing my Great Grandparent and his sister in the county of Laois.
