Haven't used freebmd for a while but as I was up so early thought I'd have a go at looking up some marriages (working on the theory that everyone says its quicker outside of normal working hours!) But it hasn't completed a single search, despite me having 2 surnames and a county!!!!! Is there any GOOD time to use it, or has it now totally collapsed under the strain? Cheers Bev

Morning, I often use this site and, particularly since they upgrade servers, have not had a problem. Are you making the search too complex, long or far reaching? Try cutting down time interval or area, or are they working on it, I know there were some dates on there the other day when they would be. Michaela

Now I would have thought 2 surnames and a county to be just right - not much info and not too little! Obviously wrong there! Didn't know that 2 surnames sent it scatty, lol! I'll try and remember that .................... sigh! Thanks Bev

A two name search takes very much longer to do , for example Imagine there are 100 names to search. A single name search check 100 records. Now, for a two name search, it takes the first name then check through all the others for the second - 99 searches. It then takes the second name and checks again trhough all the others, 99 searches You get the idea 99x99<> 10,000 searches instead of just 100. Now imagine there are thousands and thousands of names, then you see the problem. You need to put in a start and end dates, and make the range as small as possible - I find this normally works ok.
