Having googled to distraction, I cannot find any ref to the above shipwreck on 6th March 1881 off Aberdeen. Also, there's no record at the National Archives, well that I can see anyway. S'pose The Times might have carried the story nationally, or perhaps a local paper, but other than that I have no ideas. Can anyone suggest a means of finding out more info? Thanks & regs Jane |

Sarah is offering The Times lookups on this message board, so you could ask her. The relevant records office in Scotland should have local newspapers on microfilm too. Not sure if you would get info from Lloyds shipping register, in London - its only ships that sail from London I think. nell |

Hi Jane! - now who's sidetracking who?? Try the Aberdeen Press & Journal - I don't know how long it has been going but it is the main newspaper for Aberdeen. Library and Archives Find out about old editions of the Press and Journal or track down previously featured stories and articles. Sarah, You must have heard your name being mentioned!! Thank you so much for jumping into this thread - and also for picking my Records Office query up following Nell's suggestion. I've mailed you privately with my email address as I would greatly appreciate a copy of the image. Thank you everyone for participating in this thread, it's been good to have such excellent advice. Kind regards & happy hunting to you all, Jane |
