	My mother was from fishing people in Aberdeen. I live in St Ives, Cornwall and was astonished to find that Aberdeen and St Ives had very close links in the 18th and 19th century amongst the fishing community. I have found what I think is my 2 x Gt Uncle, a fisherman from Aberdeen, on the 1881 census in a Pub in St Ives! Marjorie

	I have just located my great-grandfather on the 1891 census on Scotland's People after many months of searching in England and Wales! He was in the Merchant Navy, and I had just decided he must have been far away at sea and not been counted in the census at all. Now he turns up on the Scottish census in 'Merchant Navy - Shipping' at Lat. 53 deg. 25 min N and Long. 0 deg 49 min E, wherever that is. Anyway, if you are missing a sailor you could try looking on Scotland's People - although of course you have to pay for credits. Well, I'm pretty chuffed about it, anyway. Kate.
