There's a place called Hagworthingham in Lincs, which the enumerators always shorten to 'Hagg', so that's how it appears on the transcriptions. |

I notices several records for Pennsylvania, Staffordshire. England. The place is actually Penn (Wolverhampton). I suppose in the US the typing of Penn is treated as a contraction of the name of the state. Hilary. |

Hi Twinkle At least I can see how they mistranscribed that but how about these two lads John Towns 1851 Western Sahara, Durham, England Son Esh Durham John Towns 1852 Western Sahara, Durham, England Son Esh Durham Checked both the images and they were definitely born in Esh, Durham. How can anybody make Esh into Western Sahara? Wouldn't mind a drop of whatever that transcriber was on LOL Beth :) |
