Given what we know about how our Victorian ancestors lived, when the enumerator called, chances are a) you'd be out working in the fields/at the factory/down the mine b) out the back in a long queue for the toilet you shared with 200 other families c) upstairs in labour for the umpteenth time d) comatose with gin/laudanum e) dead and laid out in the front parlour nell |

In quite a lot of the censuses I've seen the ennumerator is his own recorder! They often seem to live in that district. I've noticed that they do speciallly nice handwriting for their own family!! Also found a rellie who was the ennumerator! Anne |

Your sitting in your mates house having a cuppa when he calls! you can't go home because hubbys having a weekly bath in front of the fire, would you be your mates lodger? and would hubby be marked down as living in BATH? ha! ha!MOE! |

Your job is collecting information as an enumerator. What happens when the guy shows up to do the census at your home - and you are out collecting data in a different area? |
