Can anyone help me, I have searched with no sucess for this marriage. Thomas worked on the railways and was up and down the country. He lost his first wife Mary Ann Dobb nee Beard in Spratton Northampton November 27, 1857. I have located him on the 1861 census at Sutton Coldfield working as an Excavator, he is listed as a Widow. From the 1871 census I know Ann Dobb nee Bradbury was born in Walsall which is not far from Sutton Coldfield so it is possible they married in that area or in Lancs where he had left his children with thier aunt after the death of his first wife. I have the birth certificate of his daughter Harriet from his second marriage and she was born August 28, 1862 Dangerous Corner, West Leigh, Lancashire He is on the 1871 census with new wife Ann in Maccalts Lane, Much Woolton, Lancs. The marriage should have taken place after the 1861 census and before August 1862 when Harriet was born so it is a very small window. Can anyone help??? Regards Sue

Have you looked at Lancsbmd? Many events in Lancashire did not get as far as the GRO, but the Local Registry Offices have them. (Its happened three times to me, during the same time period you are talking about) Marjorie
