I have just found some of my family in Stamford Baron, Northamptonshire on the 1861 census. In between them and the next family, it says for their next door neighbour: 'Gone Out' So, if you cant find your family, perhaps they are out for the day (lol)

Yup, me too - I have a guy who is alive and well and with his family in 1871 - he is 15 so should be with them ten years earlier. I have looked everywhere, no sign - but then I can't find his birth registration either, so perhaps he beamed in from another planet!

Hi Margaret Mine must have gone out for the day from 1841 to 1881 because I have not found them on any except the 1881 census. Margaret

Wonder if they had an 'out to lunch' category as well - I think some of mine were .... permanently! Cheers Jane

Hi Margaret This is a really funny thread lol I am about to give up on one line of my family bcause I can't find them before 1901. Think they must have been 'out for the day' from 1841 - 1901 too.

So it's not just me that is descended from 'invisible people/alien race'.I have one side of my family who don't exist on any census at all (except for 1 child),just my luck. Very frustrated, Elaine

Hi all, I did put this on another thread a few days ago but I hope it might help some of you. I kept getting zero matches for everyone I looked for on 1861 so I went down to the bottom of the page where the censuses are listed separately. When I clicked on 1861 England census and used that search page I found them all. Janice
