Thanks a bunch helen, i never knew if she ever got married and had more kids, so this will give me a whole new outlook, i just imagined her pining, or going into a nunnery or something. Obviously she had to move on, this could be the reason i couldn't find her death details, i was looking at the wrong name. oh well, back to the drawing board, thanks again MOE! |

Hi Colette, no i don't have the b/c yet still waiting,i'm surprised shaws alley/ carpenter row is in that area i thought it was around canning/ faulkner streets lpool8 according to rellies that have since died. My mother was brought up in caryl gardens L8 by her adoptive parents (nolan) but its her birth mums details that are sketchy, I have a 1906 map of liverpool city center but it only shows up to princes ave L8 i will look and see if these streets are in the city center thanks for looking for me MOE! PS what is this dictionary you have? and where can i get one? moe |

Hi Maureen did you say you had your mums birth cert if so what was the address. I could check my 1911 Liverpool directory for you. Carpenters Row and Shaws Alley were right by one another in the Wapping Dock area of the city just on the outskirts of the city center. So her birth would be registerd under Liverpool or maybe Toxteth Park. Colettexx |

Me again! Well I've finally managed to get onto the Lancs BMD site :) Births for the West Derby & Toxteth Park area haven't yet been put onto the site :( but hopefully one of the ones on freebmd is yours anyway. Marriages - there are two on there for a Lilian Harvey. 1922 - Married John Thompson at St Marys, Kirkdale - this is doubtful as like you say, she would have been around 16yrs so I think this one could be ruled out. 1926 - Lilian Harvey married a Frederick Mantle at Liverpool Register office. Hope that helps Helen x |

I wondered if you've looked at the following site: www(.)lancashirebmd(.)org(.)uk - remove brackets! I use the Staffsbmd site for a lot of my searching and it's fab! I've been trying the lancs one but keep getting errors. The site must be down but do keep trying (if you haven't already looked) Helen x |

Hi Moe, Actually there are 3! Lilian Annie Harvey, West Derby 8b 284, 1905 (Q2) Lilian Harvey, Toxteth Park 8b 157, 1906 (Q2) Lilian Harvey, West Derby 8b 361, 1906 (Q3) The first one though, would have been 17 when she had your Mum so the other two are better possibles. Knowing which is the right one though (that's assuming one will be!) I haven't a clue! http://freebmd*rootweb*com (replace the stars with dots!) Helen x |

Hi Moe, I found two POSSIBLE births on freebmd for Lillian Harvey. They're both spelt as Lilian, with just one L. Both the registration districts seem to be around Liverpool. The reason I've said POSSIBLE births is that I'm not too hot on geography and don't know what registration district Liverpool comes under. I'm sure someone on here will do though. If you can find Lillian's birth, then you can find out her parents names from her birth cert and then find them on the 1901 census. As for going forward, I think I'd try and find a marriage for Lillian on 1837 online or the family relatives site. Good luck Helen |
