The further back I go in my family the smaller the villages and the more closely related everyone is. One village only had about 3 main families who intermarried. Bit of a tangle sorting them out. I discovered recently that my great-great aunt married a widower and they lived next door to the great-great aunt's brother. I assume that's how the gt gt aunt met her future husband. nell |

Well, speed dating wasn't around then ... so a bit of local 'networking', perhaps with the help of a kindly family member? The villages were indeed smaller and everyone knew everyone else in those days. Whilst some of mine did leave rural East Anglia, they seemed to keep in touch fairly closely with their families there. Whilst I've not found neighbours marrying or similar, I have the feeling some of the marriages were 'arranged' as the individuals married late. What a lovely way to have met one's partner! The boy next door .... well, to Grandma. Regs Jane |

Hi Marnie, I read that on Ancestry, it said Charles and Camilla were Cousins. |

Alice Keppel who is Camilla's gt x something grannie, was a lover of Edward VII, who was Charles' gt gt gt grandpa. Apparently Camilla mentioned this to Charles when they first met and said 'how about it?' But as the royals interbred a tremendous amount, and Queen Victoria had oodles of grandchildren, it is quite possible that Charles & Camilla are cousins of some sort. nell |
