it won't be 23 pound. it should be 7. you probably ordered it for quicker. normal rate is 7 and it takes a certain amount of days. 23 pound however is the express version, it comes quicker. normal rate 5-7 working days, express 1-2 days i think

Ann-Marie Wherever you got that price, its not the official GRO site. you can order it here for £7 or alternatively £11.50 or so if you don't have the GRO index ref. www.gro.gov.uk/gro/content/certificate/index.asp#0 If you order from a local register office it should also be £7. nell

How can I find out GRO index ref?

Rachel

Rachel Report 28 Apr 2005 17:33

If you look up the bmd index on 1837onlin, FreeBMD or similar it will give you the info you need. Just be warned that GRO tends to send photocopies of the record book thy have, if you need your own certificate for id reasons you might find that you won't be able to use one from GRO.

I have one credit left on 1837online that I don't need just now(and it's due to expire soon) if you want me to have a look. You would need to send your name at birth, mother's maiden name and ~date of birth though. If you want, sent the info via PM (GR inbox) so you don't have to post it an the message board.
