William Henry Harrop First World War Gallipoli

I have just found out that my great grandfather William Henry Harrop died in the first world war he was in Gallipoli. He was in the army, I don't no what regiment he was in or what year he died. Can anyone tell me how I can find out this information. Thanks Rhonda |

Hello Rhondda, there are 13 William Harrops on http://www(.)cwgc(.)org/cwgcinternet.search(.)aspx hope this helps it is the Commonwealth War Graves Commission. I once found a great uncle on there and dont forget you can now download the medal cards from Kew although the name of the site now escapes me but someone is sure to know it. brenda x |

Thanks Girls, I have had a look on the commonwealth war graves site and I have found four William H Harrop's. Don't no which one could belong to me. He was born in Lancashire but they all come from a Lancashire reg. Thanks again for your help Rhonda |

I have picked this out because he is buried in Turkey. You can go through the rest and discount those away from Gallipoli. hi rhoda, a few william henrys on cwgc,and on medal cards, you should be able to sort out yours,if you have his date of birth and part of country he lived, gallipoli started feb 1915 till jan 1916 , so that should help,regards tony up date , jim has the only one buried in gallipoli , i agree with jim. |
