I am adopted and having started doing my family tree and finding it fasinating, have now embarked on my birth family tree, my mother has been quite easy to follow and I am making progress, but my father is a different matter, the only thing i know about him is that he worked for the Duke of Gloucester at York House in St James Palace as a police officer (presumably the met police) about 1950, is there any police records I could access to find where he was born etc to give me a start. I know his age in 1950/51 and his name but that is all. Any thoughts on this would be a great help Sue

Type 'police' into the search section above the messages on this board and then look at the one for 'Police Service Records ' dated some time in December. Jack

You could try and see if he has added his name to the 'Find old work colleges' section on friends reunited.... My friend was in the same position as you.........and there he was, she is now in contact with her dad. Good luck Rosi
