Best way of marking photos?

	Pencil was good enough for my ancestors back in the late 1800's, and the names and addresses on backs of Victorian photographs are still very clear after 110 years. I would go along with soft pencil. Janet

Member Since: January 2004 Posts: 0 Send Message	I read the excellent magazine 'Your FamilyTree'. Their Photo experts advice is: 'You should only ever use a soft pencil to write on the back of a photo. Never use self-adhesive labels.' Sorry its not the answer you were looking for. Regards Andrea

	Hi can anyone tell me what the best thing is for writing on the back of photo's. Obvioulsy nothing with acid, and pencil fades - what else can I try. Have inherited a whole book of photo's with nothing on the back - am trying to work out who they are and need to identify them somehow!! Trudy
