If you go to the National Archives website, there are links to the hospital records database. This will tell you what records survive and where they are held. Good luck! |

Jenny, As it was classed as hospital,there may be a very slim chance there may be something at LMA., There may be a surviving Admissins Book ?.but dont know what it will reveal if any,,some have been known to have next of kin,but from that time.????. kay, |

Thanks for that. I have no more for the address than Oxford St, which I got from a later census. I did see the family on 1861 census (ie after his death), can't find ref. for it now though, not very efficient of me. It was St James Westminster area, which I suppose is very similar, his widow was a 'staymaker', so may well have moved. I think it has to be the right Edmond, but I can't find him any earlier, very annoying. Jenny |

No trace of Edmond in the 1851 Post Office Directory., but perhaps he was employed as a tailor not self employed. Oxford Street is full of small shops. What address was the son born at ? dave |

I've just received a death cert. for Edmond Sanders 30.09.1860 (hoping it to be my gggrandfather, who is proving very elusive), only to find that the death occurred in St George's Hospital Belgrave, St George Hanover Square, & was informed by a lady 'in attendance', presumably a nurse. So I have no note of his relatives or his address. The area is right (I think theylived in Oxford St, that's where his son was born) Can anyone help with how I can track him further. Were there hospital records? I have no access to 1851 census, which might have helped. And does anyone know what Oxford St was like in 1860, Edmond was a tailor, perhaps it was small shops? Jenny |
