Hello Everyone, I'm looking for Alfred & Ellen Bernardo. They married in 1870 in the Italian church of St Peter in Holborn.He (Alfred)was living at 4 Summer St,Backhill,Holborn she (Ellen Elizabeth)was living at 1 High St ,Kingsland(West Hackney) she would be 21-22yrs born Hackney, he would be 27-28 born Italy on the 71 census. I think both addresses have already been checked and nothing found. He was an Ice cream maker, then when next found on 1881 census a Hawkerin Orchard St,Islington,Middlesex. Not found either of them on 61 or 71 census. Because of the Italian name we have found several spelling deviations on diff census Bernardo, Barnardo, Bernarde on marriage ref. Have them both on 1881 ,him only on 91 & 1901 but hoping for place of birth for him other than Italy hence request. If anyone can help I would be grateful but I don't expect miracles. A bit of a longshot but I notice that in 1881 they have a 10 year old daughter. Have you been able to find her birth reference and check the address on the cert? Sam

MUST BE HIM ages are wrong though,his anyway *have spent quite some time looking for ths name later, and it doesn't appear in later cenus

Jess ! Yes Yes Yes!!!!!!!!!!!!! My God I don't believe it. How did you do it? I think its a definate YES!!!! Alfred's age has never been the same on census,marriage or death. So it's not a surprise it doesn't tally. Wow and it even gives a specific birth place ,even though I haven't a clue where Preuben or Rovinia Heaby is. But I don't care I'm ecstatic!!!! I am relieved that you think they fit.Not sure about the birth place, but if you are happy, then me too. Incedantally , in the end i think my criteria was Ellen born Holborn (or wherever it was!)in year +/- 1 living London Jess x

I Think The first part of the birth place could read Prussia, just a thought?
