Gary Sometimes some bits of some censuses are available online. The Family History Online site has transcriptions of 1841 and 1851 for Cambridge, 1851 for Bucks. There are also some free censuses for Gloucestershire villages. You can try googling the year plus parish and see what comes up. nell

Gary Your local records office will hold copies on film for your area. Alternatively, if you have a lot of family in the area it may be worth your while buying the census discs then you can refer to them whenever you wish. If you just require the odd look up you may be lucky and someone on GR may have the discs and be prepared to do a look up for you but please ensure that you have enough details before you ask otherwise you may find that you don't get an answer. eg 1851 look up for John Smith will get you nowhere. You need at least the county but preferably the area as the discs take a very long time to look through and few are indexed. You will also need a full name and an approximate age and preferably the place of birth and occupation if known. Best Wishes Andrea
