I bought the magazine Your Family Tree and searched through the Wiltshire Trade Directory for 1848. There is a Robert Woodroffe there, listed as a fly master at St.Johns Street Devizes. Anybody know what a fly master is? |

A fly was a sort of carriage. Could he have run a local cab service? |
