Hi - I am trying to find information on my Grandad. I have his death certificate and it says he was born in Scunthorpe, Humberside but I cant find a corresponding birth - could his birth have been registered somewhere else?

Of course it could have been. The info given on the death cert is by an informant, and they might well have been wrong about his place of birth.

Julie His name is John Perry and he was born 24th May 1913. It has confused me because everyone I have looked for has been registered in a place that makes sense - but not this one!! Thanks - Amanda

a Birth in May, may have slipped into the next quarter for registration ..... any of these look likely ? I've only put those north of the Wash ! There were 27 total from 2Q thru 4Q1913 ... Mothers maiden name is usually of use .... its the word before the district name. Julie I have heard that the maiden name may be Lloyd - so it looke like Laird Davidson may have found it!! I am pretty sure John didn't have a middle name either. Thanks to all!! Amanda x

Did John have siblings that you know of? Do their birth registrations have Lloyd also? This could help confirm that you have the correct entry.
