Why a Zion Chapel marriage?

My mother lived with her grandparents in a small Welsh village and regularly accompanied her grandmother to the Church of Wales church there. When I bought the marriage certificate for my great grandparents, I was surprised to find that they married in a Zion Chapel according to the rites and ceremonies of the Primitive Methodists by certificate. Can anyone explain why this might be? They had both been christened in Church of England churches and there was a church of that denomination in the place they married.

A few thoughts: By marrying by certificate banns wouldn't need to be read so no banns fees to be paid - perhaps money was a consideration Again looking at the no banns needed scenario perhaps they didn't want to advertise their intention to marry One of my ancestors changed from Cof E to Baptist - I later discovered the parish church was closed for roof repairs during the relevant period. Perhaps the Zion Chapel was prettier as a venue (or is that just a modern consideration in marriages?)

Thank you for your thoughts. I haven't been in the chapel but it looks small and perhaps they wanted no fuss. The Cof E church is grand and imposing. Money could well have been an important consideration. Great grandmother's daughter worshipped at the chapel in Wales whereas grandmother was firmly for 'Church'. They all ended up in the same graveyard though as the chapel didn't have a burial ground.
