Thank you both - Andrew born and died in India. It is sad - Andrew lies in an unmarked grave in Delhi aged 38 whilst Thomas Flinn also lies in an unmarked grave in Ireland having died in the workhouse aged 50. We do not recognise our heroes do we? Ann |

I think to find the link you would be better off tracing backwards from George Patrick (searching for siblings and their families on the way) rather than forwards from Andrew. You say George Patrick's father was born in Ireland, I guess that would be around 1870-1880. Was Andrew also born in Ireland? Good hunting Judith |

Your Andrew is on the Victoria Cross website as one of the youngest recipients of the VC The youngest winners were 15 years old (Andrew FITZGIBBON and Thomas FLINN). The oldest was 61 (William RAYNOR). |

ANDREW FITZGIBBON was 15yrs and 3 mths when he was awarded the VC in 1860 in China Wars. Have the details of the award and found his birth in IGI but stuck. Any ideas other than visiting Kew? There is a relationship to George Patrick Hunt Fitzgibbon b. 1902 Middlesex - father George Hunt Fitzgibbon b. Ireland but trying to link it. Ann |
