Hi, The family were Roman Catholic and Patrick, my great-grandfather worked as a blast furnace labourer. They lived in Hasland, Derbyshire Why would he go back to Ireland, aged around 40, then return after 1909 but before 1933? Any weblinks or ideas would be greatly appreciated! Thanks, Colette |

Did he have sons who would have had to fight in the war? Maybe he took the family away to avoid this? |

Thanks for the information. The person I am interested in is my GGF, Peter James Macready. He was born around 1857, appeared on the 1881 census, 1891 and 1901 too. This was in Hasland, nr Chesterfield, Derbyshire In 1900, his Ellen mother died. I cannot find a date of death for Patrick Macready, his father. This makes me think Patrick and Peter returned to Ireland, after the death of Ellen. Peter had a daughter, his first child, on 22nd Oct 1909, Eileen Macready, who married my grandad, Reginald Mason in 1933 in Chesterfield. Her death certificate states she was born in Eire. Peter was born in Dundalk, so I am guessing they would have gone back there. Peter died in the UK, around 1937, so he did come back. Thanks for the suggestions so far :) Colette |
