If you have PDF (Acrobat) files, you can download shareware programs to convert these (or pages from them) to JPG format. Try googling PDF JPG Convert. Richard |

I always find it very irritating that producers of census CDs lock the Acrobat files so that you can export or save a page. I know they have worries about piracy though I suspect anyone determined enough will get around it. There biggest threat is that in a few years time all the censuses will be available on Ancestry and probably other sites. Ancestry have no restrictions on saving pages so now most of the census sources in my family tree program have the image of the page attached. MB |

Thanks Carol for your help. Also Steve again. I feel quite chuffed now. I've managed to do it thanks to you all. My teenage grandchildren just won't believe that I have actually managed to do something on this computer. Thanks once again to everybody Barbaral |

I agree, print screen the image (its located on the top right of your keyboard) and that should take a snap shot of your desktop (or internet explorer page currently your on) from which if you bring up Paint, and paste it into there... then once you are finished editing it, save it as a JPEG file onto your hard drive. when sending the file by attachment browse for that file when its asking what attachment you want to insert. |

Depends on the disc you are using. If its a PDF file then you end up with the whole file as you found out. The way I do it is to use a paint programme, I used Paint Shop Pro and set the screen capture. When you have the census image on your screen, use the zoom in and out keys until you have the whole page on the screen, then hit the screen capture key you have previously set up. You will then have the image in PSP which you can save as a jpg. In paint shop pro, have a look at the help file for how to set up screen capture. |

Hi Barbara Is your census on an adobe acrobat file? If so, get the page you want to sent on your screen, go into 'View' and 'Full Screen'. This should fill your screen with the image. Press the 'Print Screen' button on your keyboard. Come out of the census application and open Paint program. go in to 'Edit' and choose 'Paste'. it should paste the image and you can then save it to your computer. You should then be able to email the single sheet rather than the whole lot. Hope this helps Sam |

and then saving the file as a JPEG image (under save options when you go to save your file with the file name you want and the location on the hard drive you want) making it JPEG should bring down the file size |

I looked up a family on my census disc in order to help out a fellow member. Then I was asked if I could send the image which I thought would be no problem !!! I'm not very good with computers and end up with the whole file which is far too big. Please can anyone tell me how to send the image of a single page of the file on an email ? Barbara |
