Help with identifying a medal please

On one side it has a man on a horse, 1914 -1918 on the other it has the head of King George V, I believe, with the words: GEORGIVS V BRITT OMN:REX ET IND:IMP: It belongs to a friend who's grandfather died in WW1 1917. There is a ribbon attached, although she has been told it is not the original ribbon. There are a couple on Ebay, but no descriptions unfortunately Any help would be greatly appreciated Sam |

Hi Smiley Sammy It sounds as if it could be the British War Medal, 1914-1920. GeorgeV on one side and and Saint George on the other. Try this site - http://www.1914-1918(.)net there are descriptions and pictures of the medals awarded in WW1, or google The Long, Long trail which will also take you to this site. Regards Gill |
