Hi it seems strange, some familys I am looking for in Fulham Middlesex and Leyton Essex are also missing in the 1891 census but are in the 1881 and 1901 census , have tried most ways, but not there know my Fulham family were at the same address from 1883 and still there in 1903. cheers ANNABEL

Thanks to Tracy, Gwyneth, Lunar, Irene for your help. Hi Ken Milton. Fredricks Mum was in hospital several times with cancer and thats why the children are often with relitives.Please can you send me the 1871 details i have tried to send you a message but Genes are having a problem at the moment and I am receiving double messages from contacts. He could have been in the Army, the Boar war was 1898/9-1902 I think, they would than have been called up for the 1st WW as was my granddad, but he died 31.10.1914 in Ypres. Irene

This is strange in 1871 father listed on his own daughter Emma at Uncle's no sign of mother

I have cut and pasted relevant information from above some may not have realised the thread header had been updated I have Birth Marrige Death and 1881 census information,but my grandfather is missing from 1891 and 1901 census. Fredrick Henry Townsend born 26/12/1872 Chelsea London 1881 census born abt 1873 Frederick with an e with mum dad brothers and sisters 31 Glebe Place Chelsea london Than nothing. He then marries my nan 11/9/1907 Acton Middlesex and they have there 1st child 2 days later and a further 7 children. He is in the 1st WW and dies 4/1/1924 by falling of a bus.

Have you looked for the parents, brothers and sisters of your man as he might be on the cencus but not transcribed or his name was dificult to read.

If he's in prison, he should be on the census. If you give more information, we can have a look for you as well :)

I have Birth Marrige Death and 1881 census information,but my grandfather is missing from 1891 and 1901 census.I have looked for all veriations of name etc.He was 18 and 28 for those census years so I am wondering if he was in prison and if so can I find him? also if he went abroad how do I look for him.
