Hi, I came across this on 1871 census: Alice Cashmore 1856 Shrewley, Warwickshire, England Daughter Shrewley Warwickshire James Cashmore 1843 Shrewley, Warwickshire, England Son Shrewley Warwickshire Sarah Cashmore 1811 Coleshill, Warwickshire, England Head Shrewley Warwickshire John James 1844 Bream Eaves, Gloucestershire, England Son-in-law Shrewley Warwickshire Mary James 1847 Shrewley, Warwickshire, England Wife To Son In Law Shrewley Warwickshire Now it says Mary James is the Wife to Son-in-Law, surely this would then be Sarah Cashmore's daughter, is this right or am I being thick?? Thanks AL.

Logically yes she would be daughter of head, however the possiblity is that the son-in-law has remarried and stayed with the original wife's family. Personally I think that it is the daughter but to explain the name difference has been entered as wife of s-in-l

Thanks, I'm goin to records office in london, in few weeks so hopefully I'll find that sarah did have a daughter Mary, in earlier censuses. AL

IGI shows a Mary CASHMORE / John JAMES marriage. I checked the rest of the batch records on Mary's birth and it seems very likely that your family are recorded there, - and Sarah with a daughter Mary.

Thanks Gwyneth, I found a load of info for Mary now, just needed to know how to connect her, so I will put her as Sarah's daughter. AL
