Yes, you need to put quotes around the names otherwise it will find all articles which contain the word Francis & the word James and the word Seymour, but not necessarily together! When I put in the name with no quotes I get three hits - one in 1787, one in 1903 and one in 1967. Richard. |

I think that answers my question. Ancestry came up with several hits and only mentioned the one individual with that name on the census and bmd sections so that shows that it is picking up on the words rather than his name. I know little about him, thought it may have mentioned his birth especially if he was in the Seymour family of aristocracy, but it seems not. |

Nothing at all comes up for 'Francis James Seymour' or 'Francis J Seymour'. There are 765 hits for 'Francis Seymour' between 1815 and 1900. Is there anything that he was likely to have made the news for? Need another keyword to reduce the number of hits! Richard |

Some of the records on ancestry, when you do a search they bring up things that only have one of the names youve typed into the search I know when I looked at the American newspapers a while ago,It said there were 2 hits for one of the names I was looking for,but the names werent together,if you get my meaning. Ive only got access to the census and stuff now though Anna :-) |

I get quite annoyed with ancestry because I joined but often when I want to search some records get the message you have to subscribe to get this info I personally would not bother if you do please let me know whether it was worth it thanks |

The records seem to start around his birth, but i was wondering if it just checks the individual words. Thanks for your reply, would you join or have you just glanced when stuck? |

I find whatever name I put it it comes up with lots of records but when you think how many people had the same name it isnt any surprise |

I am a member of Ancestry's site for UK records collection. If I type my ancestor Francis James Seymour into the newspapers section it comes up with loads of hits for the London Times. Is this a con, does anyone know? to get me to pay to join that when it is only the three individual names in the same paper or something similar? Alternatively is there another way of viewing the papers archives? |
